As tourism students, we are always looking for exciting travel experiences, and what better way to explore local attractions than by visiting Avilon Zoo, the largest zoological park in the Philippines? One weekend, my classmates and I decided to embark on this adventure to learn more about wildlife conservation and enjoy a fun day surrounded by nature. Our trip began at the mini bus terminal in Araneta Cubao, where we searched for transportation to Rodriguez, Rizal, home of Avilon Zoo. After asking around, we found that the best way to get there was by taking a mini bus bound for Rodriguez (Montalban) via litex/commonwealth. The fare was 45 pesos for students, and 50 pesos for regular, as a student it was affordable for us knowing how long the distance from Cubao to Rodriguez, Montalban. We hopped into the mini bus, excited for the adventure ahead. The journey took about an hour, but we barely noticed the time passing as we enjoyed the changing scenery that slowly transitioning from the busy streets of Metro Manila to the more relaxed, greener landscapes of Rizal. Upon reaching Rodriguez town proper, we got off near Eastwood/Luvers, which serves as a common drop-off point for visitors heading to Avilon Zoo. From there, the next step was to find a tricycle, the easiest way to reach the zoo from the main road. The tricycle ride took around 10 to 15 minutes, bringing us through peaceful residential areas and lush surroundings. As we got closer, we could already see signs pointing toward Avilon Zoo, making our excitement grow even more!
