THE RAJAH OF AVILON ZOO (TIGER)

Last weekend, we went on a zoo trip to Avilon Zoo. We were all excited to see the animals. In fact, we didn't feel like we were doing it just for the PETA but It was a much-needed break from school. But the highlight of my visit was the Tigers. I had seen pictures of these big cats before, and I'm a big fan of jaguar prints as clothing trends nowadays. But seeing them in real life was something else. Their size, strength, and their low rumbling sounds that made me feel a bit small.

One of the tigers was just chilling, lying down under the tree. It looked kinda lazy, another tiger was pacing back and forth like it was just hungry. We could see its breath, and hear it too. I even saw one yawn, and its teeth were massive.  As we watched them, Xian were taking tons of photos, trying to get the perfect shot. And joked to one of the Tigers to look directly to the camera, for the close up picture. Before we left the enclosure, of course we took a group photo with the tigers in the background. After seeing the tigers, we checked out the other animals – monkeys, birds, snakes. But honestly, the tigers were the highlight. My overall experience is that It wasn't just about seeing them, though. It was about feeling how different they are from us. Like, you know, we're all just people, but then you see a tiger, and you realize how wild the world really is. We also learned a bit from the zoo staff too. It's one thing to see animals in our screen, but seeing them up close is a whole different experience. We will definitely go back to Avilon Zoo!

BARI THE GIRAFFE

When Visiting Avilon Zoo in Montalban, Rizal last Feb. 15, 2025, was an experience like no other! From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by the sounds of nature, surrounded by fascinating creatures we don’t usually see every day. But among all the animals, the one that stood out the most for me is the giraffe!

We were completely shocked by its height! I knew giraffes were tall, but seeing one up close was a whole different experience. It was towering over us, gracefully moving its long neck while waiting for food. We had the chance to offer food to the giraffe, and it was such a memorable moment for me. Feeling its soft lips gently take food from our hands/stick was both thrilling and exciting. I never imagined feeding a giraffe would be such an incredible experience!

Aside from the giraffe, Avilon Zoo was home to many unusual animals that amazed us, especially the tiger and lion. From exotic birds with vibrant feathers to massive arapaima swimming in the water, every part of the zoo had something unique to offer. We even got to see rare animals like the binturong (bearcat), playful capybara, and giant crocodiles! The zoo provided a perfect mix of education and fun, allowing us to appreciate wildlife and learn more about how we can help conserve their habitats.

This visit to Avilon Zoo will forever be one of my most memorable and unexpected adventures. It wasn’t just about seeing animals—it was about experiencing them in a way that left a lasting impact. If you’re looking for a fun and educational getaway, I highly recommend visiting Avilon Zoo. Who knows? You might just find yourself as amazed as I was!

THE KING OF AVILON ZOO (LION)

It was a rainy day when my friends and I visited Avilon Zoo. Despite the cold weather and the sound of raindrops hitting our umbrellas, we were excited to explore and see different animals. We walked around, looking at playful monkeys swinging on branches, colorful birds perched on trees, and a giant crocodile resting near the water.

As we continued exploring, a loud, powerful roar suddenly echoed through the zoo. We all stopped and looked at each other in surprise. It was the roar of a lion. Curious and excited, we followed the sound until we reached the lion enclosure.

Inside, we saw two lions resting despite the rain. Their golden fur was slightly damp, and their thick manes looked heavier from the moisture, but they still appeared strong and majestic. One lion lay on the ground, calm and unbothered by the raindrops, while the other stood tall, shaking off the water from its fur.

Before leaving, we took one last look at the two lions. They sat side by side, their eyes sharp and filled with pride. Our trip to Avilon Zoo may have been wet and chilly, but hearing the roar of a lion and seeing them up close made it a day to remember.

THE GAZE OF THE PHYTON

At the Avilon Zoo, I saw a really, really big snake and It was a Burmese python. These snakes live in the jungle and It was so long! It was as long as a car, or even a small bus. I do really like snakes since my father was always educating me about snakes. I like to see them and touch them the snake felt smooth and kind of like jelly. It was my first time to touch a snake. I didn't know what to feel, but I felt happy and excited. I'm amazed! Since I only see snakes on TV, like on National Geographic. I watch them on the TV, but now I saw a real one. It's different to see it in real life it is bigger and more amazing. Before, I only saw pictures and videos. Now, I touched it! It moved and felt real. It's so cool to see a snake this big. I was happy I could see it at the zoo. It's not the same as watching it on TV. It's much better to see a real snake.

THE SMILING PREDATOR: FRESH WATER CROCODILE

As we visit the Avilon Zoo, I first notice the snakes and crocodile, and I didn’t expect that crocodile can grow as much as 8.2 feet (2.6 meters) in comparison to their length. Imagine a regular-sized car (sedan). Before I visit the Avilon Zoo, I really like to have an crocodile pet, not until I’ve seen a real one up close, it is so big that it can swallow a whole person. But it is very interesting because in the Avilon Zoo, you can not just see them, but you can also have a chance to feed them by putting a small amount of meat on a fishing rod and feeding them up close. The sheer power of their jaws, the prehistoric texture of their skin, and the way they moved with such deliberate grace it all captivated me.

As a person who is curious about crocodile, I really enjoyed seeing them because my curiosity was fulfilled since I haven’t seen an crocodile before. Avilon Zoo offered a unique opportunity that truly satisfied my desire to learn more. It wasn't just about observation but it was about interaction. I found myself comparing and contrasting the alligators and crocodiles, noticing subtle differences that I never would have picked up on before. The experience was more than just entertaining but it was educational.

JOEY THE ORANGUTAN: A RELAXING AFTERNOON AT AVILON ZOO

Joey the orangutan relaxes in his comfortable home in the lovely surroundings of Avilon Zoo.  He sits on a solid tree branch and enjoys the cool afternoon wind while his brilliant eyes look around. People visit to admire his calm manner, as so we are. While we take some pictures in an attempt to catch a glimpse of Joey's quiet charm, other visitors just wave at him.  Though he occasionally hangs lazily from a nearby rope or stretches his long arms, he usually loves the afternoon's quiet.

Joey as a representative of his species, he reminds us about the value of protecting wildlife.  We also learn more about orangutans and the need of preserving their natural habitats by watching him. Joey stays calm and enjoys the beauty of another quiet day at Avilon Zoo as the cloud sets, filling the sky with gloomy weather.

THE MAJESTIC EAGLES OF AVILON ZOO

There were many kinds of eagles, each with unique features. Some had dark brown feathers, while others had white heads and sharp, curved beaks. They looked powerful, their eyes sharp as if they were always watching something from afar. We stood there, mesmerized, imagining how they would look soaring high in the sky.

We also found out that visitors could take a picture with an eagle for 100 pesos. It was tempting, but we decided to just admire them from a distance. Even without holding one, just seeing these majestic birds up close was already an unforgettable experience.

Before leaving, we took a few more moments to watch the eagles. They stood tall and proud, a true symbol of strength and freedom. Our trip to Avilon Zoo was not only fun but also a great way to appreciate nature and learn more about these incredible creatures. It was definitely a day to remember!

AVILON ZOO's BELOVED RABBIT

You won't believe what we saw at the rabbit enclosure, which was our next destination.  To begin with, these rabbits were the cutest things I have ever seen, and watching them hop around was my favorite part. Over the top, their fur was fluffy and their noses were twitching, and we couldn’t help but smile ear to ear watching them explore their space. One of the highlights of this visit was being allowed into the area where the rabbits are kept. The room was built specifically for pairs of tourists who wish to come in contact with these adorable creatures. The first thing we saw was a room full of rabbits of different breeds, shapes, and sizes. These rabbits were nothing like the ordinary pet rabbits that we have back home. They were so big that some even looked like tiny dogs! It was exciting to come to and educational to observe how well the rabbits were adapted to this environment. The bunnies were obviously well maintained and had a lot of space to move around and play, which was very encouraging. As we got closer to the bunnies, we noticed that other people were feeding them, and everything seemed so bright and alive.  As the rabbits nibbled on the fresh veggies and pellets that the other tourists had provided, it appeared that they were enjoying the attention.  We didn't have to wait long because families and friends were enjoying themselves just as much in the enclosure.

 MEMORIES WILL NEVER FORGET

Definitely well worth the cost of entrance to Avilon Zoo, where we had that unique opportunity to observe many species of animals. Each one was a new adventure, presenting animals only read or seen through documentaries. The experience of coming so close to these magnificent creatures was unparalleled.

And we learned quite a lot from the very articulate keepers who were ever willing to share their knowledge with us. They instructed us on the right way of feeding and caring for the animals plus a host of other interesting tidbits like their conduct and habitat. It fascinated us to learn that there are conservation actions towards safeguarding these species and their habitats to enhance the understanding of wildlife. We had seen so many animals we had never experienced before, from bright tropical birds to big majestic cats. This kind of experience made it too great to have this naturalistic experience. Every moment that one spends watching these animals reminds one of beauty and diversity in life on this planet.

Thank you very much, Avilon Zoo, for the unforgettable experience we had with you. Your dedication to education and conservation truly stood out, and it has inspired us to be more mindful of our environment. We will definitely come back again to explore more and continue learning about the amazing world of animals.
